Well – I have heard the news today – despite 3rd edition and Edition 3.5 in the last 7 years, it has been leaked today that the Fourth Edition of D&D will be launched next year.
*Sigh* we have collected source books and adventures and core rule books – and once again they are to be superceded 😦
Oh well – we have enough 3rd edition stuff to keep us going a while longer, and so we are in no hurry to rush out and get the new edition when it is released.
Showing my complete geekyness to all here – but in 8 more days my husband and I are going away for a week with our D&D group. We have hired a beach house for the week a couple of hours up the coast. Even though it is winter, the weather during the day is nothing short of sensational at the moment, so there will be some nice things to do during the day I hope. After 15 years, our group has become very close knit and we are all like family to each other. We are all desperately looking forward to it. I am sure there will be plenty of late nights, lots of Pizza and Beer, and lots of roleplaying.
My husband is planning on kicking off his Ptolis campaign, or continuing with our Drow game.
I was thinking of playing a caster type in Ptolis, because I like the idea of charming and mezzing the bad guys 🙂 I have only played one caster in our pen and paper games before so it should be a lot of fun.
Well I only played AD&D 2nd edition, so shows how long its been 🙂 I wish I knew some people that were interested in those geeky things like D&D and Magic, etc. So far the only person around me that seems to like the same stuff is my woman, not that its a bad thing, I just wish I had a dedicated group like you do.
OMG you like Magic too Gdub?
I still have my original decks from when the game first came out – We have not played for many many years though.
I do feel as though I am blessed to have such a stable and dedicated group of long term friends with the same interests is for sure.
I’ve done the magic thing too and D&D, AD&D and all that good stuff *chuckles* Unfortunately, like Gdub, I lack a dedicated group of people close to me who play. I haven’t played for years now.
Yeah I ended up selling my magic cards from when I was in high school. Then I picked it up again with some friends after high school, but those ended up getting sold too. I had mostly all of the 2nd edition source books, but those also were sold when I moved onto other things. I would still play had I a group that was interested, but my friends are more interested in cars, drinking, and video games.
Man, 4th edition??? I just unpacked my bookshelf of AD&D and 3e books! Was just thinking of reading through some of them again 🙂 Haven’t played in quite a while, but my old Pally’s itching – wish I knew some people around here that still liked playing 🙂
Have fun at that beach house!
I’ve never played D&D maybe i’ll look in to it when the new edition comes out.
I started playing with the D&D red book and then AD&D 1st edition. I’m not entirely sure what year it was. Probably early 80s. I am proud to say that I played AD&D during a mortar attack in Mogadishu, Somalia. We just put on our kevlar helmets and vests and “game on!” I don’t have anyone to play with anymore. 🙂 thanks good for MUDS and MMORPG.
